At Atlantis Connect 2015, CEO Chetan Venkatesh Outlines His Vision for Software-defined Storage Revolution
Technology leaders from around the world convened June 1-3 for the inaugural Atlantis Connect EMEA event at the renowned Gleneagles hotel in Scotland. At the
partner and customer event, Chetan Venkatesh demonstrated that hyper-convergence is a game-changing business and IT strategy for the enterprise, as long as vendors can eliminate unnecessary costs, performance bottlenecks and complexity for partners and customers.
In his keynote, the founder, president and CEO of Atlantis Computing explained the company’s vision to provide superior value and choice through the broadest partner ecosystem and customer-led innovations that address emerging Software-Defined Storage (SDS) preferences and offer blazing system performance. Venkatesh also discussed the company’s trajectory
since launching in 2006 and plans to build on Atlantis HyperScale™, the first economically viable hyper-converged appliance.
"It's still about the software at the center of the enterprise,” Venkatesh said. “IT and business leaders want to use the best technologies to address whatever application they need to deliver top-notch service and compete globally. Today it's about achieving more performance, scale out and flexibility in a software-defined future. Atlantis has poured all of its knowledge on driving system efficiency to make flash cheaper than spinning disk, and we will continue to disrupt the economics of IT to benefit our partners and customers."
Sharing Best Practices on Transforming Economics of IT
Around 100 Atlantis partners, customers and sponsors attended the event to learn more about Atlantis’ strategy, vision and product roadmap. The event at Gleneagles allowed attendees to network with their peers, gain actionable insights and learn best practices to gain the most out of an Atlantis SDS or hyper-converged appliance investment.

partner award winners were announced.
EMEA Partner of the Year 2014 – eCrome Systems AG
EMEA Distributor of the Year 2014 – Prianto Benelux
Sponsored by Supermicro, Intel, Lenovo and FSLogix, Atlantis Connect provided a stage for Atlantis executives and industry experts to discuss forward-looking insights on the market. Topics including SDS and hyper-convergence dominated the discussions.
Steve Chambers, principal analyst at ViewYonder, delivered the Day 2 keynote entitled “The Digital Enterprise Platform, Race with the Machine” on how the digital economics of IT are transforming all industries
. Chambers argued, “the idea of using smart software to do something simple and deliver flash performance with compelling cost benefits is a game changer. The economics are startling, and the applications are many.” He also concluded: “Atlantis is disrupting the storage market by trending the cost of storage towards zero, at the same time proving flash performance, and all in software with a platform economic-friendly API.”
Christian Weber, CEO of eCrome Systems AG, said: “Atlantis provides organizations the freedom to choose their own hardware or hypervisor. It is going to radically change the storage landscape with this solution. It allows our customers to leverage their existing computing and storage infrastructure – enabling huge cost savings but still superior performance. As a partner, this is a huge benefit because it’s flexible, easy to install and very scalable, allowing us to help our customers build a solution to underpin the data center of the future.”
Glenn Dahlstrom, VDI Architect at the Danish Court Services, said: “As a customer, Atlantis Connect EMEA was very educational. Not only did we learn about the new HyperScale solution but we also heard about the different use cases the solution can underpin. The solution is flexible, easy to install and very scalable, allowing end-users to build a solution to underpin the data center of the future.”
Toby Coleridge, CTO of Atlantis Computing, comments: “Our solution incorporates hyper-converged and distributed architectures using smart software that delivers outstanding performance. To develop our latest solution, HyperScale, we focused on simplicity and speed, ensuring our channel partners and customers would have a disruptive storage product.”

Atlantis, winner of the Best of VMworld and Best of Citrix Synergy awards, offers the industry's most flexible and powerful Software-Defined Storage (SDS) platform. Atlantis delivers better performance than the fastest all-flash array, at half the cost of traditional storage. Atlantis HyperScale leverages the Atlantis patented SDS platform to deliver all-flash hyper-converged appliances that are 50 to 90 percent lower cost than traditional storage or other hyper-converged appliances. To date, Atlantis has deployed over 52 Petabytes of storage for more than 1000 mission critical deployments, including some of the largest virtualization deployments in the world. Atlantis is privately held and funded by Adams Street Partners, Cisco Systems, El Dorado Ventures and Partech Ventures, with headquarters in Mountain View, California and offices in Europe.
