Bringing Enterprise Data Services to Containers and Microservice Architectures

Atlantis has partnered with Rancher Labs to deliver a fully-automated, unified platform that can orchestrate and provision Docker containers and deliver purpose built application defined persistent storage for Docker containers.  It provides a single platform with a rich set of data services, provisioning and management of compute, storage and containers by combining in-memory and persistent storage for container runtime and data storage for Docker volumes.

Atlantis HyperScale testing with Jetstress

If you haven’t already done so, take a look at our latest work with Howard Marks of DeepStorage, LLC. We worked with Howard to test Jetstress against one of our Atlantis HyperScale appliances, namely a CX-12 unit with default configuration. What we wanted to achieve was to see how much storage I/O performance the HyperScale platform could theoretically drive with an Exchange workload.

Sysbench OLTP Performance: Atlantis HyperScale and Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 v4 CPUs

As part of our commitment to making available the latest processor models on Atlantis HyperScale hyperconverged appliances, we were able to test Intel’s newly released Xeon® E5-2600 v4 “Broadwell-EP” based processors starting with the Sysbench OLTP MySQL database. We took an existing HyperScale CX-12 that ships with Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 “Haswell” processors and replaced the CPUs with Intel Xeon E5-2697A v4 processor, which are 2.6GHz (16C/32C) processor. With 16 cores of compute power per CPU and 8 CPUs in a 4-node 2 Rack Unit Atlantis HyperScale CX-12, we have 128 CPU cores at our disposal.

USX 3.0 What’s New? – Volume-Level Snapshots

Atlantis volume-level snapshots provide instantaneous copy images of entire volumes, which is an exact replica of the volume and its contents at the point when the snapshot was created.

Atlantis Snapshots allows for unlimited snapshots of high performance, low latency snapshots. Snapshots can both be initiated manually through the USX GUI, through the RestAPI, using the Atlantis PowerShell Tools or scheduled.

Deduplication – By the Numbers

Atlantis HyperScale appliances come with effective capacities -  the available capacity after in-line de-duplication that occurs when data is stored onto HyperScale Volumes. HyperScale Volumes always de-duplicate data first before writing data down to the local flash drives. This is what is known as in-line deduplication which is very different from post-de-duplication which will de-duplicate data after it is written down to disk.
